Maps
Maps let the group mark where the story happened. Upload a map image, then add pins, routes, zones and labels on top of it.
Add a map
Open Maps and choose New map. Upload a PNG, JPG or WEBP image of up to 8 MB, then give the map a name and an optional description. To change the name, description or image later, open the map's actions and choose Edit map.
Owners and members can create and edit maps. Viewers can open them and look around.
Find your way around
Drag to pan, and scroll or pinch to zoom. Open the Map index to see everything placed on the map and search it by name.
Map tools
Choose a tool from the map toolbar, or press its key:
- Select (V) picks an item to edit, move or reshape.
- Move (H) pans the map without selecting anything.
- Add pin (P): click the map to place a pin and name it.
- Draw route (R): click at least two points, then finish the route. A route can be marked as directed and can snap to pins.
- Draw circle zone (C): drag to draw a circular area.
- Draw polygon zone (Z): click the corners of an area, then finish it.
- Place text label (T): click the map to write a label, such as a region name.
Zones and routes have their own colours and line styles.
Pins and the compendium
When you name a pin, you can search the compendium and link the pin to an entry. The pin's description is filled in from the entry, which you can edit, and the entry shows On the map in its connections. Choose Open Entry on a linked pin to go to the entry.
A pin without an entry can still have a marker type, such as a point of interest, and a description of what the party finds there.
Private markers
Pins, zones and text labels have a Visibility setting. Only me hides the marker from everyone else in the campaign. Use it for personal reminders.
Export or print a map
Open the map and choose Export. Choose:
- Whether pin labels show as names on the map, as numbers with a legend, or as markers only.
- Whether to include routes, and zones and labels.
- Whether the export shows only what everyone can see, or includes your private markers too.
Then choose Download image or Print.
