Choose World Anvil if
You love worldbuilding for its own sake. You want articles for every nation and god, family trees, in-world calendars and character sheets in one place, and maybe to publish or sell your world one day.
World Anvil is built for managing an entire world: its history, maps, nations, family trees and rules. RealmBinder is built for the story your table actually plays, and keeps that record with as little admin as we can manage.
You love worldbuilding for its own sake. You want articles for every nation and god, family trees, in-world calendars and character sheets in one place, and maybe to publish or sell your world one day.
The world matters to you, but what you want kept is the campaign: what happened, who the party met and what is still unresolved. You want it written up after each session without an evening of filing.
Request beta accessWorld Anvil gives you a lot to build with: more than 25 article templates with nested categories, interactive maps linked to articles and to each other, parallel timelines with eras and in-world calendars, and family trees, diplomacy webs and statblocks for more than 100 systems. You can publish your world or sell it, there is a huge community with challenges and awards, and it does not train AI on your work.
World Anvil asks you to build the world and keep it current. RealmBinder starts with the session, as rough notes, a recording or answers to an interview, and the characters, places, quests and timeline are made and linked from it.
When a note says a quest is done or a character died, RealmBinder suggests the change and waits for someone to apply it. When a name might be someone you have already met, it asks rather than making a second page.
A RealmBinder campaign is private to the people you invite until you choose to share a public link. Players can own their characters and pin notes to sessions and entries.

Freeman is free, with caps on worlds, articles, maps and storage. Free worlds are public. Private worlds and secrets need a paid plan. Master, Grandmaster and Sage are billed monthly, yearly or, for the top two, once for life. Yearly starts at US$4.50 a month.
Free during closed beta, with payments switched off. Launch prices and plans have not been set. Beta tables hear from us before anything changes.
Plenty of GMs will want both. Keep the world you built in World Anvil, and let RealmBinder keep what your table did in it, session by session, with no articles to file afterwards.
We wrote this from World Anvil's own pages on 18 October 2026. Products change, and we would rather be corrected than out of date. If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
RealmBinder uses AI to write up sessions, build the compendium and answer questions. What it touches, and where it can be wrong.
