RealmBinder vs LegendKeeper

LegendKeeper is a worldbuilding tool: you build the world, its maps and its history, and run your game from it. RealmBinder starts at the other end, with what happened at the table, and builds the campaign's record from that.

The short version

Choose LegendKeeper if

You are a GM who enjoys building the world before play: nested maps, eras and timelines, whiteboards, and pages you write and link yourself. You want a tool with no AI in it, and you want to edit alongside a co-GM in real time.

Choose RealmBinder if

You want the campaign kept without becoming its librarian. You write or record what happened, and the characters, places, quests, timeline and recap come out of it for the whole table to read.

What LegendKeeper does well

LegendKeeper's nested, zoomable maps handle very large images, and its timelines have eras and parallel storylines. An infinite whiteboard links its cards to the wiki, you edit together in real time with other people's cursors on the page, and offline edits sync when you are back. Export is never behind a paywall, and there is no generative AI, if that matters to your table.

Where RealmBinder is different

It starts from the session, not the setting

In LegendKeeper you create and link every page yourself. In RealmBinder you bring the session, as rough notes, a recording or answers to an interview, and the entries are made and linked from it. You can still edit any entry by hand.

Less to keep up with

When a note says a quest is done or a character died, RealmBinder suggests the change and waits for someone to apply it. When a name might be someone you have met, it asks rather than guessing. The upkeep a wiki asks of you after every session is the part we try to take away.

Made for the table to read

Each session gets a written note and a short table brief to read out at the start of the next one. Players own their characters, and can pin notes to sessions and entries.

Pricing

LegendKeeper

Free during closed beta, with payments switched off. Launch prices and plans have not been set. Beta tables hear from us before anything changes.

Using both

They fit side by side. Keep the world you built before play in LegendKeeper, and let RealmBinder keep what the party actually did in it. LegendKeeper exports HTML and JSON rather than Markdown, so moving pages across is a copy-and-paste job for now.

How we checked

We wrote this from LegendKeeper's own pages on 18 October 2026. Products change, and we would rather be corrected than out of date. If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it.

RealmBinder uses AI to write up sessions, build the compendium and answer questions. What it touches, and where it can be wrong.
